New Years 2010

It’s been a busy year thus far, as is apparent with the lack of updates in the past month.  So, I’ve got some catching up to do before we delve into the Spring 2010 semester.

The Kirksville Knights took on the Flames in their last game of the Winter Season.  The Varsity girls took them on and won another victory for the tally.  The Junior team played and barely lost to the Flames in the 4th quarter.  The last game, Varsity Knights vs Flames, was incredibly close throughout the game, ending with a loss in Overtime with a last second, half-court shot made by the Flames to secure the win.  So, that concluded the end of the 2009 season.

Now, we start again in the 2010 season with 6 home games!  Tomorrow (Tues, Jan 5th), we take on Heartland here at home, starting at 6:30pm @ Rehoboth church.
January 8th and 9th, the teams travel to Kansas City for two games.
January 19th, Sunnydale travels here to Kirksville for another game, starting 6:30pm.
More of the schedule will be posted in an update later as well as scores and stats from the 2009 season.

The Drama Troupe will begin again soon with a date to be announced.  They will begin to practice for their May full-play production that they put on each year, graciously and skillfully taught and directed by Katherine Feiner and LaRoyce Allemang.

We certainly hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Years celebrations and vacations.  Stay warm as the weather turns even colder!

God Bless!

News Update

Well, it has been a while sine KAHS has been updated and people are maybe wondering what’s going on. Well, for one, it’s that time of year again when people get busy and helping with basketball games and drama events take up time normally dedicated to other simpler tasks, like updating a website like he should have a week ago. Secondly, KAHS is working on a new project  that will hopefully be online early 2010. No exact dates yet, but rest assured, it will be cool (please do not quote us, this is an opinion of the author only).  Finally, well, there isn’t really other than school, which is thankfully over for me 12/11/09.  All that aside, let’s dive into the next update!

The home school drama event went well this past month featuring skits that were created by the actors themselves with LaRoyce and Katherine Feiner being the best drama directors that we’ve known.  The Drama Troupe will once again meet next semester to begin practice of their annual Spring Play.

The Kirksville Knights traveled to Quincy to take on Quincy Christian and left with smiles and a new win in the records.  There was no video recorded at this game as no video personel were available.  Final score and points-per-player will be updated soon.

The Knights have a tournament next up 12/11/09.  Jim Rider will announce when the first game, times, and locations are as soon as they are available so make sure to check back frequently.

Well, that concludes another update.  Hopefully, they will be more frequent in coming and perhaps snippets of the new project just might leak out soon.  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Lady Knights Win Again

The Lady Knights faced off with the Sunnydale Spartans on Thursday evening, scoring within the first 5 seconds of the game starting.  Danika Askew top the girls’ scoreboard with 11 points, followed by Lindsey Howd at 10 points.  Cambre Britt added 5 points and Naomi Rider added another 3 points.  Megan Huber added 2 points from free-throws, while Khris Sturm and Chaylee Britt added a point a piece to bring the grand total to 36 points for the team against the Spartans score of 25 points.  Congrats to the Lady Knights again for a good game.

Also, video of the game should be online sometime this weekend. It will be posted here and hopefully on the Facebook page as well.

Knights vs Sunnydale

In their second game of the season, Varsity Boys and Girls of the Kirksville Knights played against Sunnydale Spartans Thursday evening @ Sunnydale.  The Knights won both games, scoring in both games within 5 seconds of the start of the game.  Scores will be updated later today and video should be ready this weekend.

Update:  Girls won 36-35  Boys won 56-23.

Knights Roll Over Lions

The Kirksville Knights scored at will Saturday afternoon as they pulled away from an over-matched Life Church Lions squad 68-21. The game was never in doubt as the Knights scored the games first ten points, but it was never as pretty as one might expect. Hampered by a “no fast break” rule that was ordered by the coaches, the Knights managed plenty of shots and rebounds.

Chance Britt led the Knights with 22 points followed by Peter Willis’ 15. Jonathan Rider, started the season with a 3-pointer, added 11 while Ross Noe tallied 8. Titus Fansler, the team’s lone senior, added 6 points as did Austin Stroud.

The Knights play Thursday (November 12) at Sunnydale. Last year the Knights swept the Sunnydale squads.

Junior Boys Fall Short in OT

The Kirksville Junior Boys team fell just short in Overtime vs. Life Church Saturday. It was the first game for both teams and it was exciting. Trailing by two with time running out Life Church hit a shot at the “buzzer” which at first was waived off, but later, after review with the referees and the clock team, was to be counted. The Junior Knights were led in scoring by Andy Killen’s 7 points and Joel Joplin’s 6. D. Harrelson chipped in a basket to round out the scoring for the boys.

Wrapping Up Another Year

Well, as the school year comes to a close, it’s time to bring in the final updates regarding events upcoming.

First up, with this upcoming weekend, the Homeschool Drama Team brings you, “Anne of Green Gables”.  The show will begin this Friday at Christ’s Family Church (531 N. Baltimore) at 7pm and show again on Saturday at the same time.  Admission is free.

Next on the list is Senior Graduation.  This will take place at Grace Community Bible Church on May 15th.  Seniors graduating include Ally Willis, Caleb Askew, and Nathan Rider.

Finally, a little news about Boys Basketball.  We are inviting everyone interested in playing basketball this fall to participate in a skills assesment camp being held on May 14th and 21st at 7pm.  Mike Blum has offered to lead the camp and the YMCA has offered us to use their facility free of charge for those two evenings. We hope this will give the players an opportunity to know where they are in regards to their level of play and offer encouragement/advice to areas they may want to work on over the summer.  We plan to have a short meeting with the parents on the 21st at the end of the camp.  There are plans being made to do this for girls basketball as well.  If you have any questions, please call either Jim Rider at 341.8710 or Robert Stroud at 341.6142

Well, that wraps it up for now. Summer updates will probably be seldom and infrequent.  However, come either late July to mid-August, we plan to begin updates on all events we can get our hands on.  So make sure to email in any community events that you’d like to appear here on KAHS to!  I hope everyone is having a great year and let’s finish strong!

God Bless!
